Save Your Progress

We’re now accepting applications for our new program.

Geared toward those of us working in social justice-oriented organizations, this program teaches basic archival principles and how to apply them in local contexts. 

Major topics will include include: 

1. Deciding what to keep (archival appraisal)

2. Keeping track of what you want to keep (arrangement and description)

3. Keeping what you want to keep safe (preservation)

4. Sharing what’s important with the right people (outreach and community building) 

5. Documentation and succession planning (what to consider if you’re considering donating your collections to a cultural institution)

This is a time-intensive training program, and we’re seeking applications from organizations that can commit at least two individuals to the following: 

• On-site kick off at Highlander Center (October 8 - 11)

• Weekly virtual meetings (October 19 - November 30)

• On-site project wrap up at Highlander Center (December 3 - 7)

All travel expenses will be covered, as will housing and food while you’re at Highlander.
